How to Kill Candida Yeast with Natural Anti Fungal Remedies
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to Balanced Existence for free via email. Or you can grab our free RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
As promised in my article How to Overcome a Candida Yeast Infection here are some natural anti fungal remedies that I have personally used. Remember that these anti fungal remedies that kill candida can cause candida die-off symptoms. Probably more so then through the anti candida dietary restrictions discussed in the article linked to above.
So if you start taking some of these anti fungal remedies to kill off your candida infection and you start to experience really adverse die-off symptoms then back off for a couple of days and then gradually reintroduce your chosen anti fungal.
It may also be worth noting that you shouldn’t just bombard your body with all the below anti candida remedies at once. Rotate between them so that each month you’re taking a new anti fungal that the candida is not used to. This will avoid the problem of the candida becoming resistant to any one natural remedy.
Olive Leaf Extract
This is a fantastic product and an essential part of a natural Candida cure. Containing strong anti-microbial properties its active ingredient is Oleuropein. Oleuropein has been found to not only inhibit the growth of viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites but also to lower blood pressure. Olive Leaf also contains anti-inflammatory properties and is a powerful antioxidant. You can purchase a quality Olive Leaf Extract here.
Interestingly the Bible refers to the olive tree and particularly olive leaf as being a form of medicine. The director of anti-aging research at the National Institute of Health, Richard Cutler, M.D. is quoted as saying:
“The amount of antioxidants from olive leaf and other sources you maintain in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live.”
Coconut Oil
The active ingredients in Coconut Oil are Caprylic Acid, Capric Acid and Lauric Acid. These medium-chain saturated fatty acids are potent anti microbial agents. They kill fungi such as Candida yeast by causing their cell walls to disintegrate. The medium-chain fatty acids contained in coconut oil actually boost the body’s metabolism, which helps with weight loss and will provide you with a greater amount of energy. Coconut oil also has anti-tumor properties and helps support your immune system.
You can purchase organic cold pressed coconut oil here. It is an excellent product you can eat by the spoon full and it is perfect for cooking. Coconut oil doesn’t break down at high temperatures like olive oil does and it has a long shelf life.
Pau d’arco
This is a great anti fungal that can be taken in either tea form or in capsules. It is the bark of the pau d’arco tree that contains anti fungal properties. Despite very high humidity levels in the rainforest where the pau d’arco tree grows there is no mold or mildew on its bark.
Two of the active ingredients in pau d’arco bark are lapachol and beta-lapachone. Lapachol contains properties such as anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-tumorous, anti-viral, bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal, among others. Beta-lapachone has demonstrated in laboratory studies to be anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-tumorous, anti-leukemic, anti-cancerous and anti-inflammatory.
Grape Seed Extract
This is an exceptional antioxidant and possesses anti bacterial, anti viral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Grape Seed Extract is actually a more potent antioxidant then both vitamin C and E. The active constituent of Grape Seed Extract is oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OCPs), which may also assist in the maintenance and improvement of peripheral circulation and general wellbeing. You can purchase Grape Seed Extract here.
Garlic
Great in cooking Garlic is a potent anti fungal that will help you cure your Candida problem. One of the phyto enzymes in garlic is allicin. While there are many garlic supplements on the market allicin is best used synergistically with other enzymes contained in garlic. Thus it is best certainly cost effective to simply have a clove of garlic squeezed into your fresh carrot juice.
Carrot Juice
Don’t buy commercially produced and processed carrot juice. Make sure you juice your own and drink immediately. Back in 1988 a study published in The Journal of Microbiology described carrot as a handy fungus fighter. By juicing carrots you give your blood stream immediately available nutrition while giving your digestive system a break from constantly having to deal with whole foods.
Conclusion
After a reasonable period of starving the candida yeast or any other parasitic fungi through dietary control as well as killing it with the anti fungal remedies listed here you may want to take a good probiotic. This will replenish any good bacteria in you digestive system that may have been killed off through the anti microbial actions of the above anti fungal remedies.

Hi Beth,
My pleasure. I think fungus is a bigger problem then most people realize. Hopefully I can raise the level of awareness through this blog and help those who need it.
Please do let me know how you go. Feel free to leave comments here so others can also read and learn from your progress.
All the best,
Stephen

Some excellent suggestions for natural treatments of candida infections. The lauric and caprylic acids found in coconut oil have been found to have anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. The only problem is you need to digest a fairly large amount of coconut oil in order to achieve a therapeutic response. You can also get lauric acid supplements that may help increase the amount of lauric acid you’re taking, compared to eating coconut oil. This is similar to using vitamin c supplements in place of the vitamin c you get from eating oranges.

Can we rub the coconut oil directly onto the affected area of the skin? I know someone who’s got yeast in her toes. Will it help to apply the coconut oil on that area?
Thanks.

Hi,
Yes you certainly can! I use coconut every single day as a natural moisturizer after a shower. I’ve also noticed at times I’ve gotten a slight rash on my chest once or twice that putting some coconut oil on that area the rash quickly went away. Its anti-bacterial and fungal properties work just as well on the outside as they do on the inside.
Also I much prefer coconut oil as a moisturizer over any other chemical concoction you may find on supermarket shelves labeled as moisturizers these days. The rule I like to follow is if you wouldn’t eat something don’t put it on your skin. This is because when you put it on your skin you’re effectively eating it. The substance is getting into your body.
Hope that helps!

This was very informative. I’m interested in this subject for several reasons. One, I think that there is a connection between foods that are considered to be fungus type plants and fungus in/on the body.
Two, I see mankind as walking trees, and since trees can get fungus, so can we, but I think we get it in higher numbers and just don’t recognize it.
Three, I just noticed evidence of it on my skin as well as my son’s best friend.
Four, and most importantly, cancer is a fungus, and I personally think that eliminating smaller, lesser debilitating fungus in the body, such as candida, is a preventative measure from getting cancer.
In other words, I am thinking, at this point that cancer could be a culmination of long term minor fungus living in the body, having some cataclysmic episode/interaction/event occur, that morphs it into a more serious fungus…cancer. It’s like fungus gone wild.
So I’m on a mission to find out about fungus, because I think there are far more serious effects on many levels than we are being told about, and I also believe that toxins are being placed in our foods that cause it.

Hi Ether64,
Thanks for stopping by. I think you would be very interested to read The Fungus Link by Doug A. Kaufmann if you haven’t already.

Great information here! I have been taking Olive Leaf for a while and eating Coconut Oil (usually cooking with it.) I am also taking Beta Glucan with Caprylic Acid which I have heard is an antifungal. Hoping this will help with my candida yeast overgrowth. I noticed you mentioned Doug Kaufmann. Love his books and his show! Very interesting - I think him and you both are on to something here.
